In Japan, when classes finish students usually stand up and say “thank you”. It is Japanese unique style! Do you know it? I don’t know why we have to stand up. But I think it is polite way. And we have cleaning time after lunch. When I talked about it to British students, they were really surprised! We have to clean up our classroom by ourselves; on the other hand, they have cleaner so they don’t need clean up their classroom. I envy them. Which do you think is better? That’s all★
I strongly feel that it's important for kids to take care of their classroom themselves. Canadian kids also don't do it and it was another thing that took some time for me to get used to when I first came here, but I like the idea now. And as a teacher, I can say that it's much nicer to have students show some kind of respect or at least recognition to you when you come into the class or when the class ends. I like Japanese style.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's a nice Japanese style. It is surely messy for us, children. But we use it very carefully by cleaning our classroom by ourselves. That's a very important!
ReplyDeleteRisa, I think it would be so cool if you could include a video of a classroom of kids doing this. This would really connect with non-Japanese people.
